Something special happens when you put children and authors together. An energy fills the room: there is an exchange of ideas, laughter and a surge of creativity. Dare I say it, but it feels quite magical. I’m all about firing up the imagination, which is the most important skill we can possess. It helps children with everyday problem solving and leads to the thinking that can make our world a better place. Jobs and businesses come and go, but imagination remains a desirable and transferable skill.
I love doing inspirational author talks and running ‘under the radar’ educational workshops where my tips make writing fun for children aged 7 to 12. I especially enjoy encouraging those who are less confident because that was me at school. I never dreamed I’d become an author. I didn't think I was clever enough.
I’m on the Live Literature database and charge fees in accordance with Scottish Book Trust’s and Society of Authors’ recommended rates. Events last from 40 minutes to an hour with time factored in at the end for author questions. If you’d like to discuss an event or workshop get in touch and let’s make the magic happen.
