I’m Juliette and I’m a storyteller, word lover, imagination grower and nurturer of writers.

For as long as I can remember my nose has always been buried in a book. I still recall the excitement of being let loose in the library free to choose whatever I fancied. My dad read Dylan Thomas, Laurie Lee and the poems of Norman MacCaig to me at bedtime.

My first book was penned at the age of ten. It didn’t make the New York Times bestseller list, but it sparked a love of writing stories. For me, books made the world an impossibly magical place where there was adventure around every corner.

I blame Willard Price for igniting a longing to explore far-flung shores. I packed my bags and headed off to stay with the Karen tribe in Thailand. I swam with sharks at the Great Barrier Reef, skydived on to Mission Beach, explored the caves, forests, lakes, beaches and vineyards of New Zealand, trecked into the deepest parts of the Malaysian jungle and hopped over to the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. I took the Greyhound Bus all the way from LA to New York, stopping off to admire the King’s twinkling jumpsuits at Graceland and walk around the mysterious streets of New Orleans.

Winning a New Writers Award from Scottish Book Trust gave me the support I needed to complete my first novel. Twister went on to become a Sunday Times Book of the Week and was chosen by The Guardian as the ‘one must-read book of the summer’ for children aged 8-12.

You’ll also find my other labours of love here: The True Colours of Coral Glen, The Night My Dream Came Alive and The Mountain Rescue Dog.

If you’d like to find out what mischief I’ve been up to head to the News section.
